Hey there reader,

Are you ready for the second lesson I've learned on this 11-year weight loss journey of mine? The first lesson focused on losing weight as a 46-year older woman dealing with perimenopause. Fun times!

Today, I want to chat about time management. Yes, not as exciting as hormones. Ha! Is that exciting?

Anyway, prioritizing and controlling your time are two essential habits to put in place if you want to make any changes in your life, including losing weight.

One of my favorite sayings is if it's essential, you'll make the time; if it's not, then you find an excuse.

Here's the thing, there's never going to be enough time, and you'll always be busy. So, if you want to change your life in any way, then it's your responsibility to make that happen.

That's a big lesson I learned in the last 11 years. Not just with weight loss but with everything from business to simply decorating my house. Nothing is going to change magically. We need to make it happen.

So, let's chat how prioritizing and controlling your time makes the magic habit.

Prioritizing time means making the conscious decision to dedicate your time to moving forward on your goals. It's changing your mindset from "I don't have time for this" to "I will make the time for this."

One of the things I encourage readers to say when deciding not to complete a task is, "this isn't a priority to me." I know that sounds a little harsh, but it helps us take ownership of prioritizing the things we "say" are important to us.

Let me give you an example. If one of your goals is to start a morning exercise routine, you sleep in or decide to watch TV instead of working out. Not to mention, you didn't get any exercise gear together, so you're not prepared to work out even if you had the motivation. By doing this, you are essentially saying that even though you might want to exercise, it's just not a priority.

When something is a priority, you make the time, taking that extra step to plan and prepare. It also means saying no to something else that's pulling your attention.

Next, let's move on to controlling your time. This is so huge for me, and I'm guessing it's probably a big deal for you too reader.

I have learned that if I don't control my time, my time will control me, and nothing will get done.

So what does this mean?

It means taking your priorities and giving them a block of time. It's telling your time what to do. I call this time blocking.

I find this to be the most effective way to move the needle forward on all my priorities.

Every week I put together a to-do list with the tasks I want to accomplish for the week. Of course, all of these tasks fall under each of my priorities.

For example, if your goal is to exercise every morning, then put a block of time to exercise into your schedule. But also add extra time for getting ready afterward and set reminders to charge the phone and get any exercise gear together. The goal is to wake up being prepared to exercise.

You can also block time for meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep.

The last thing I want to say about this is when you have priorities set and time blocked for them, it's so much easier to say no to the things that don't move the needle forward. When a priority is scheduled it keeps you intentional and mindful. Yes, life happens, but when someone says, let's get lunch or calls to talk, you can say I can't because I need to do X. That's when you have made your goals a priority.

Don't forget; the Organize Yourself Skinny eCourse is on sale for 50% off. The final price comes to $63 after the discount. So, if you've been on the fence about enrolling in the eCourse, then now is a perfect time.
