This recipe highlights a traditional and vital food for the Anishinaabeg, a community of Indigenous people in and around the Great Lakes Basin of Southern Canada and the Northern United States. Wild rice, known as manoomin, from Black Duck Wild Rice, delicately balances between rounds of butternut squash, harvested from my backyard garden. Grown from the land I live on, and out of the water that I love, these two beautiful seasonal ingredients are sure to bring an abundant meal to your table all season long. I look forward to learning, growing, and sharing - now, and always! Wishing you peace in finding your truth, courage in acceptance, and community in coming together around our shared future. Big hugs and much love, Sarah B |
