Hello everyone, it's been quite some time since we've connected through the blog and I'm so happy to be back sharing this very special post with you. As we approach Canadian Thanksgiving, just having honoured the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation here in Canada, I thought there was no better time than to share a beautiful recipe highlighting the abundance of the season, as well as to share my family's history with this land, people, and water I call home. There are many resources out there globally to help you to learn, acknowledge, and connect with wherever you call home!

This recipe highlights a traditional and vital food for the Anishinaabeg, a community of Indigenous people in and around the Great Lakes Basin of Southern Canada and the Northern United States. Wild rice, known as manoomin, from Black Duck Wild Rice, delicately balances between rounds of butternut squash, harvested from my backyard garden. Grown from the land I live on, and out of the water that I love, these two beautiful seasonal ingredients are sure to bring an abundant meal to your table all season long. I look forward to learning, growing, and sharing - now, and always!

Wishing you peace in finding your truth, courage in acceptance, and community in coming together around our shared future.

Big hugs and much love,

Sarah B
